Astro Intumescent Pipe Closer (75mm Depth - 4 Hour Protection)

The Astro Intumescent Pipe Closer – 75mm Depth is designed to maintain the fire resistance of fire-rated walls and floors where continuous plastic pipes penetrate through compartment lines.

With a deeper 75mm body and fire resistance of up to 240 minutes, it is suitable for use in gypsum and masonry walls, as well as concrete walls and floors, where higher performance is required.

Each pipe closer consists of a two-piece circular steel shell with a durable red and silver finish. The split design allows the collar to be fitted easily around existing pipework using a secure slide-lock fixing system, making it ideal for both new installations and retrofit applications.

Inside the steel casing is a graphite-based intumescent material that reacts when exposed to heat. As plastic pipes soften and melt during a fire, the intumescent expands to seal the opening, helping to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and hot gases.

Fire testing may be carried out with pipes left uncapped or capped on one or both sides, depending on the intended application and installation environment. The approved test configuration is identified within the fire classification code, which defines the permitted use of the product.
