Astro PFP FR Acrylic is a high-performance fire resistant acrylic sealant designed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and hot gases through joints and service penetrations in fire-rated walls and floors.
It maintains both the fire performance and acoustic integrity of the structure, making it suitable for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.
The sealant cures under normal atmospheric conditions while remaining flexible enough to accommodate joint movement up to 12.5 percent. In a fire, it expands into a stable intumescent char that forms a strong and durable fire seal.
For best results, the sealant should be used with suitable backing materials such as stone wool or Astro PFP FR backing. This helps achieve the correct depth and joint ratio while minimising shrinkage during curing.
The product has been tested in a variety of pipe and penetration configurations including uncapped, capped inside the furnace, capped outside the furnace and capped on both sides.
These configurations determine the approved fire ratings and are reflected in the EI classification, allowing the product to be suited to a wide range of building service situations.
Astro PFP FR Acrylic is CE marked, classed for EI 240 applications and offers low emissions, strong adhesion and excellent acoustic performance.
It adheres well to concrete, masonry, steel, gypsum, glass and most plastics, and requires no primer on most substrates.
