The VALKYRIE AS is a wall-mounted addressable sounder designed for low power consumption. Up to 32 individually addressed sounders can be installed on a single loop, using addresses 94 to 125. Address selection is configured via switches 1 to 5 on the 8-way DIL switch. 4 selectable tones are available and are chosen using switches 6 and 7.

When individual address reporting is not required, the VALKYRIE AS can be configured as a Shadow Sounder. In this mode, the sounder does not occupy a loop address, allowing additional detection devices to be added. Shadow sounders do not communicate their status to the control panel, meaning their presence on the loop is not monitored.

Although unaddressed, Shadow sounders draw current from the loop (10 mA in alarm) and must be included in loop loading calculations.
