The Hochiki SLR-E3N(WHT) Conventional Optical Smoke Detector is a photoelectric optical smoke detector designed for use with most conventional fire detection systems. It utilises Hochiki’s high-performance optical sensing chamber, allowing reliable smoke detection while reducing the need for traditional ionisation detectors in many applications.
The detector features a removable smoke chamber for quick maintenance and cleaning, helping to ensure long-term performance and reduced service time. Its unique baffle design allows smoke to enter the sensing chamber efficiently while preventing ambient light from affecting detection accuracy.
With a wide operating voltage range (9.5–30 V DC), the Hochiki SLR-E3N is compatible with a broad range of conventional fire alarm panels. An integral third terminal provides a remote indicator output, enabling external visual indication where detectors are installed in concealed or restricted locations.
The unit’s low-profile housing and twin fire LEDs provide a discreet design with 360° visual indication, making it suitable for a wide variety of commercial and industrial environments. The detector is compatible with a range of mounting bases and is approved by leading certification bodies including LPCB and VdS.

An optical smoke detector is a type of smoke alarm that uses a light-scattering sensor to detect smoke particles from slow-burning, smouldering fires, such as those caused by electrical faults
A smoke detector is a general term for devices that detect fire, while an optical (or photoelectric) smoke detector specifically uses light-scattering technology to detect large smoke particles, making it ideal for smouldering fires
Optical smoke detectors reduce false alarms from cooking fumes (making them ideal for hallway/living room placement)
