Global Fire VULCAN2-ABI VULCAN 2 - Addressable Base Beacon

The addressable VULCAN2-ABI is available as an addressable beacon that can be field-configured to operate in either Shadow or Auxiliary mode. Versions with an integrated loop isolator are also available. Up to 64 VULCAN2-ABI ABI beacon devices may be connected to a single loop, subject to loop loading limitations.

All VULCAN2-ABI devices use DIP switches for address setting, while tone and operating mode selection is achieved via jumpers. A built-in potentiometer allows the sound output level to be adjusted if required. The VULCAN2-ABI A is typically installed in conjunction with a detector, although an optional lid is available for standalone applications.

Shadow Beacon:
When configured as a Shadow Beacon, the device does not have an individual address, allowing additional addresses to be reserved for detection devices. Shadow Beacons do not communicate with the control panel and their presence on the loop is therefore not monitored.

Auxiliary Beacon:
When configured as an Auxiliary device, the VULCAN2-ABI shares the same address as the co-located detector. In this mode, it monitors the address loop for a command from the control panel instructing the detector LED to illuminate. Upon receiving this command, the VULCAN2-ABI is simultaneously activated.

In the event of a confirmed fire, remaining sounders can be activated using the Evacuate command. This approach minimises disruption to other occupants during false alarms while still providing early warning to the room occupant in the case of a genuine fire event. Activating Sounder Silence at the control panel will silence all active sounders.

A maximum of 63 Auxiliary Beacons can be connected, and these may be allocated across addresses 1 to 63.
