Learn more about Apollo AlarmSense

How is AlarmSense different from standard conventional systems? Open

AlarmSense devices share a single zone circuit for both detectors and sounders.

This removes the need for separate sounder circuits in many installations, reducing labour time and simplifying first fix. It is still a conventional zoned system, not addressable.

Can I mix AlarmSense with Series 65 or XP95 devices? Open

No. All devices on an AlarmSense zone must be AlarmSense compatible. Series 65, XP95 or Discovery devices are not compatible on the same circuit.

What panels are compatible with AlarmSense? Open

You must use a panel specifically designed to support AlarmSense bi-wire technology. Standard conventional panels without AlarmSense compatibility will not operate the devices correctly. Always confirm the panel’s compatibility before installation. We stock a range of Apollo AlarmSense control panels.

Does AlarmSense meet BS 5839 requirements? Open

When correctly designed, installed and commissioned, AlarmSense systems can comply with BS 5839-1.

System design must follow standard zoning, sound pressure level and coverage requirements.

Where is AlarmSense typically used? Open

AlarmSense is commonly specified for:

  • Small to medium commercial premises

  • Schools and care facilities

  • HMOs and low-rise residential blocks

  • Offices and retail units

It is often selected where a conventional zoned system is suitable but reduced wiring is preferred.

Is Apollo AlarmSense addressable? Open

No. AlarmSense is a two-wire/bi-wire conventional system. It does not provide individual device addressing or pinpoint identification like addressable systems.
