The Soteria Dimension Specialist Optical Detector features two daylight-filtered photo-diodes and three IR emitters positioned at different angles. By combining these elements, it functions as both a smoke sensor and a proximity sensor, detecting smoke levels while monitoring for any physical interference with the detector.
Without a chamber, the detector uses an IR LED to emit light externally. Smoke scatters this light back to the photo-diode, allowing precise detection.
Two microprocessors manage the sensors, controlling timing and applying a digital phase-sensitive detection algorithm to minimize noise and background light interference. They also provide digital filtering to reject transients, compensate for drift and temperature, and ultimately make accurate alarm decisions.
